Osteopathy for Children

Since its founding in 19th century America, osteopaths have treated children of all ages. Today, we receive specific referrals from other practitioners who treat children such as GPs, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, midwives, lactation consultants, paediatric dentists and health visitors.

We are a team of experienced paediatric osteopaths who treat many children whose parents/carers seek help for a diverse range of issues. Osteopaths do not treat ‘conditions’ but aim to get the body working as well as it can by addressing any mechanical issues that may be compromising it. Each stage of childhood, from birth to adolescence, brings its own physical challenges. Osteopathy is a gentle manual approach which is suitable for children of all ages, including babies.

At Nunhead Osteopathy Practice, children of all ages are treated by dedicated paediatric osteopaths who have received specialist training (a minimum of two years postgraduate clinical training) in diagnosis, examination and the use of gentle techniques, suitable for young patients. This expertise enables them to safely treat even the most fragile babies, including those born prematurely.
